Player safety

Responsible Gaming

Gambling should cost you what a night out costs and feel about the same. This page covers the warning signs, the tools on your account, and the Australian services that help for free.

Set your limits before you play, not afterDeposit and loss limits live in your account settings and apply from the moment you save them.

01 Play is entertainment, not income

The house edge is permanent. Treat every deposit as money already spent.

Across our 4,368 games the average return to player is 96.4%. That number is honest and it is also the point: over time, the maths favours the casino. A good session is one you enjoyed, not one you profited from.

Three habits keep it that way. Decide what the evening is worth before you open a game. Use money that is already spare, never money with a job to do. And treat any win as a bonus to withdraw, not as a bigger bankroll to play down.

Chasing losses is the single biggest warning sign

Increasing your stake to win back what you have lost changes nothing about the odds and everything about how much you can lose. If you notice yourself doing it, stop the session and set a limit before the next one.

02 Warning signs worth taking seriously

If more than one of these is true this month, use the tools in the next chapter.

None of these on its own means you have a problem. Several together usually means the balance has shifted.

  • You have played for longer than you meant to, more than once.
  • You have deposited more than the amount you set aside.
  • You have borrowed money, sold something, or used bill money to play.
  • You play to escape stress, boredom or low mood rather than for fun.
  • You have hidden the amount you play from a partner, family or friends.
  • You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
  • You have gone back the same day to win back a loss.
  • Gambling has affected work, study, sleep or a relationship.

Ticking two or more is a reason to set a limit today. Ticking four or more is a reason to call 1800 858 858, which is free and confidential.

03 The tools on your account

Limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion — all free, all effective immediately.

Every one of these sits in your account settings and can be turned on in under a minute.

ToolWhat it doesWhen it startsLoosening it
Deposit limitCaps what you can pay in per day, week or monthImmediatelyTakes effect after a cooling-off period
Loss limitCaps net losses over a chosen periodImmediatelySame cooling-off period
Session reminderA pop-up telling you how long you have been playing and where you standNext sessionAny time
Time-outLocks the account for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 6 weeksImmediatelyEnds automatically
Self-exclusionCloses access for 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or permanentlyImmediatelyCannot be lifted early
Tightening is instant, loosening is not

Lowering a limit applies straight away. Raising one is deliberately slow, so a decision made mid-session cannot undo a decision made with a clear head.

04 Setting a limit, step by step

Four clicks from the account menu.

  1. Sign in and open the account menu in the top right.
  2. Choose Responsible Gaming from the settings list.
  3. Pick the tool you want — deposit limit, loss limit, session reminder, time-out or self-exclusion.
  4. Enter the amount or duration and confirm. You will get an email receipt with the exact time it took effect.

If you cannot reach the settings for any reason, live chat can apply any of these on your behalf 24 hours a day. You do not need to give a reason and you will not be talked out of it.

06 Protecting people who share your device

Under-18s must never reach a real-money account.

Our age limit is 18 and it is checked at registration and again at verification. Accounts found to belong to a minor are closed, deposits are refunded and winnings are void.

  • Never save the account password in a browser others use.
  • Sign out fully rather than closing the tab on a shared computer.
  • Consider filtering software such as Net Nanny, Qustodio or Gamban, which blocks gambling sites at device level.
  • Keep card details out of shared wallets and browsers.

07 Closing the account for good

Ask in chat or email, and it is done — with any balance paid out first.

You can close an account at any time, with or without a reason. Any confirmed balance is paid out through your verified withdrawal method, subject to the usual $30 minimum and $10,000 per-transaction cap, and then the account is shut.

If you close under self-exclusion, we will not send you marketing, will not reopen the account before the term ends, and will not accept a new registration from the same details.

Write to [email protected], ring 1800 160 428, or raise it in live chat. See our Contact page for hours and response times.
